This is an extremely rare 17th century gilt copper torque made by the Newari people of Kathmandu Valley. It features a mythical Newari chhepu at its centre, and also represents two traditional necklaces within the torque. It was likely worn by a person of high status or was an adornment on a sculptural figure.
