Fijian Dance or Ceremonial Club, Kiakavo.

Fiji Island, Polynesia
Early to mid-19th century
Wood
36” in length

Fijian sali clubs were used in warfare, and kiakavo clubs share many characteristics of the sali, but there were never used for fighting, and do not have the sali’s sharp edges. The spur and the shaft of the club may be a reference to the crest of a rooster or iguana.
